Coppice

This comprises the dense, upright and narrow-stemmed, regrowth of mixed hardwood tree species (Bursera, Metopium and Swietenia). It provides habitats for many orchids, bromeliads (both terrestrial and epiphytic), birds, snakes and crabs. Coastal coppice may occasionally flood, and on windward coasts receive salt spray which may lead to sculpting and wind-shaping.
