The Fisheries Resources (Jurisdiction and Conservation) Regulations 1986 provides for the sustainable harvesting of specific marine resources within the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. In addition the regulations prohibits the taking of Coral and provides for environmentally sustainable use of harvesting methods.

The harvesting of the following marine species are restricted as set by the regulations and enforced by the Department of Fisheries.

Crawfish (Panulirus argus )
Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata)
Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas)
Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta)
Nassau Grouper (Epinephelus striatus)
Rockfish
(Mycteroperca bonaci)
Stone Crab
Bonefish
Conch
